KATIE HOWARD // YOUTH RESIDENT

Hey, I’m Katie! I was born and raised in Salisbury, but my passion for rodeo took me to South Texas for the last few years. During that time, I earned my associate’s degree and college rodeoed at Wharton County Junior College and Texas A&M–Kingsville. I’ve always flown by the seat of my pants, so after thousands of miles in a 15-passenger van, I never imagined the Lord would call me back to Salisbury. But He did, and it wasn’t without a fight that I answered His call.

I first came to know Jesus in high school through amazing Young Life leaders who continually poured into me. It was during those years that I first felt called to ministry. However, my own ambitions began to take priority over following God’s plan for my life. Eventually, doing things my way caught up with me, and I sought the Lord for direction. He sent me packing and a few days later, I moved home, where I returned to Emmanuel and found out about the ERA program.

Because of the impact my youth leaders had on me in my early walk with Christ, I knew I wanted to be that same kind of guide for others. I’m so excited to step into this calling and grow alongside students as they begin to explore what God’s purpose looks like in their own lives.
